Inpher Named a 2019 Gartner Cool Vendor in Privacy Preservation in Analytics*

According to Gartner’s Cool Vendors in Privacy Preservation in Analytics report, “In Gartner’s Chief Data Officer (CDO) Survey, conducted in February 2019, it is clear that almost all organizations acknowledge the promise of the economic benefit and value of their data assets…Data is the heart of all business intelligence (BI) and analytics activities, yet all personal data brings privacy risk with it — a risk that must be treated to ensure that value drawn from insights can actually be used.” At Inpher, we see that these data repositories hold large amounts of personal data – and the inherent privacy, security, and compliance risks that follow.

In the report, Gartner asserts, “organizations have come to realize the economic potential of their data repositories. Much of this information contains personal data — inherently carrying with it privacy risk for the associated individuals and, by extension, the organization. Homomorphic and other encryption techniques reduce this risk, while maintaining information value.” We believe that solutions in the privacy-preserving machine learning and analytics space have serious potential to address these data privacy risks.

According to the report, “The vendors in this research all apply unique and novel approaches to protect personal data while enabling extensive analytics supporting a variety of use cases. They employ a variety of capabilities to transform personal data and as such provide a balance that satisfies corporate utility and personal privacy.”
